Many people have probably heard of the new, Mircrosoft Technology calledSilverlight. It’s a technology to apparently replace Flash and utilize the Flash-like technology into the .Net Framework. As an added bonus, you can use this technology with languages like Python. They also mention that it will supply support for WMA and WMV on Mac OS X. Here are my thoughts on all this who-ha.

It’s an idea, but I’m not exactly sure how this would benefit Windows, and what exactly it’s suppose to do. It’s so unclear its hard to say. I’ve also yet to see WORKING support for Silverlight and WMA and WMV format on any Mac OS X browser. And truthfully, if I wanted ANYTHING to do with the .NET framework, I would use Mono. Mono is an open source multi platform framework for .NET server and client applications. It can be used with many languages, including Python, Java, Boo, Javascript, PHP, and much more. As I see it, MS is a little late on the code aspect of Silverlight, and visually, Flash still kills Silverlight. I don’t know Microsoft, I’ll guess we’ll have to see what happens in the near future.

World Wide Developer Conferences are an exciting time for all those interested in the Mac World. It’s a time when Apple releases it’s new technologies, developers get to see what other colleges are working on, and you get to hear from His Steveness himself. Now, you can rarely tell or predict what will be at the conference, but you can only hope certain topics will be discussed. I, am no exception. I have a few things I really do hope Apple discusses, namely:

- More information on why Leopard was delayed
- An introduction to Leopards new and beatiful UI *illumnious please*
- More detailed information on the Python and Ruby bridges, and the technologies that will be able to be used from these bridges
- More information on this new scripting bridge
- Xcode 3.0 technologies, and what will the IDE be able to do
- More Apple goodness….
This is what I’m hoping for. But what’s a blog without opinions? What do you think readers? What do you want Apple to talk about at the WWDC?

As many have guessed by reading TUAW, Think Secret has released screenshots of the current Leopard build, 9A410. This is my review.
WTF?!? This is revolutionary UI that Apple has come up to stop Vista in it’s tracks? NO!!! The only thing they changed in this build was window tint. Oh, wow, beautiful. People can create Polished Windows now. Apple is going to need a lot more than this to beat Vista.
And what about these claims about a new glossed over UI? Anyway, here’s a good screenshot that demonstrates this new build’s UI.

I am personally angry that Apple has decided to proiritize the iPhone over the release of Leopard. I don’t plan on buying one for several reasons as outlined in this post. At the time, I had no idea why Apple wanted to postpone it’s landmark OS release, and replace it with and expediated release of well, a generally crappy “iPhone” (The name screams lame). That was until I came across this post, linked from /..
On another note, this news about the iPhone is delaying a draft I’ve been wanting to post for a few days now. >:(
