Whats been going on for 4 months.

Well now, I just took a random glance at this blog today and realized something: It’s been over 4 months since I posted here. This sort of came at an alarm to me, but after I sat down and had a long string of discoveries on where my time has gone over this last half year, I’ve finally come up with an explanation.

First, my hands have been tied literally from the beginning of high school to now. I am what some might call “gifted,” and therefore I take the associated class to go along with that category. Needless to say the amount of homework, effort, and time spent in these classes is tremendous. From the beginning of the first semester to finals I had to work my sorry ass to the bone to get the correlating grades I wanted, which left me effortless to even think about running a site or programming. During last school year I also began to develop my love for basketball, finally make a competitive team that travels throughout my city to the tune of about 50 games. You can imagine how much dedication that took.

Next, this site was never really anything more than an experiment on my part. I wanted to figure out how to write, read, interpret, and build websites and manage web servers. The intention was never to do this seriously, and lets be honest, no one really reads this site anyway unless your the occasional glancer of specific mac software. This being said, my membership to Dreamhost is going to expire, in which I plan not to renew it. As cheap as it is there is no reason to continue the hosting.

Adding on to the experiment part, I have literally lost all desire and drive to continue developing software or a website. Slowly watching the state of the internet over the last few months (up to a year), I have decided I want to stay as far away from here as possible. It is too volatile, and the jobs I would be looking into involving the internet are all over-seas or massed produced (you don’t develop software, you develop a piece of software OVER AND OVER.)

Finally, I have lost all interest in the Mac world. It has gone a direction that I cannot follow: giving in to consumer demand and sacrificing flagship products for feature-crippled look-a-likes. It just seems the developing world I became fascinated with has totally turned their eyes to a new product, and its left me with dry feelings. I never expected it would come to this, but I’m so tired of Apple and its associations with the DRM world, not to mention AT&T. It just left me bitter.

So, what does that mean for this website? Nothing really, it’ll be gone in about 2 months. If anyone wants this theme or any of its content however, they can use the contact form for a request.

Update 3/27/08

Its not hard to guess that it’s been quiet here for a few months. Well, at least it should be, those bubbles with the date of post in them kind of gives them away XD. Anyway, I promise I have a good reason this time, compared with the other excuses I’ve given.

For one, I’ve been working with a software group on a project that many consider dead, and at its peak it rivaled Adium, and in most cases, beat it out in features. I can’t exactly state what I have been doing with this group until they release Proteus 4.2, but until then, I can say I’ve been busy.

The second presser of time recently is……MARCH MADNESS! Yes that crazy time in the United States where 64 colleges compete for the reining title of Champions. My vote is on Memphis, and if you must know, yes, they are going to be Michigan State, you don’t have to be modest =).

Finally, there’s that whole thing called school; it kind of gets in the way of regular blogging. Only a few more months though, final quarter is winding down as I speak.

Update 1/17/08 - 1/24/08

It’s been a while! To make a long, terrible, complicated, and sad story come to a close sooner, I’ll sum it up like this:

This site shouldn’t be online right now.

That’s right, I tried to kill it over the Christmas Holidays. Sadly, however, I didn’t disable the auto repay option, so, when I thought I had deleted it, I come up with an email saying it was going to cost me another 109 dollars. I was thrilled. Well, anyway, here we are and I’ll sum of what I plan to do and what has already happened:

  • I changed the name and theme to shake off that Mac Fanboy Look. The blog will now be about whatever the hell I want it to be, mainly Python programming and stuff I find elsewhere. NOW RENAMED TO “It’s a Conspiracy, I swear”
  • The theme is totally, ghetto fresh. Yes, you know you like it.
  • All the broken links that absolutely PLAGUED the site is in the process of getting fixed. Yes, very soon all the links will work again. ALL FIXED! =D
  • I got rid of the spam ridden forum that I was using. It was pointless anyway, as of now no one uses my software anyway…If anyone actually does need help, use email.
  • I’m still looking for a decent header image for the blog, if you have any, please don’t hesitate to email it to me! Found one, looks good too!

Let’s hope this year brings a little more good activity to the site.

Updates galore!!!

Change is good, right? That’s how the old saying goes at least. I plan to put that idea to the test! I’ve completely overhauled Caffeinated Mac’s sidebar and logo; to a more, colorful look. The sidebar is direct inspiration from the Mac OS X IRC client Colloquy. The light blue background and small border blend in well with the rest of the content, as well as the images on the right of the sidebar headers. It allows this important information to displayed in a more pleasing manner. I also got rid of the Creative Commons badge from the sidebar and transformed it into a link in the footer. I added the familiar white gloss toolbar many Mac OS X applications have these days and put it on the bottom of the footer, to represent it is important content, and to make it look more Mac-like. Another HUGE *heh, and I mean HUGE* change to the blog is it’s new logo. I created the logo myself, with the help of a few images lying around here and there. The idea was I needed something that told people that it was a Mac Website, which led me to the finder face and the Public sign. These images combined clearly state that this content is for viewing and is Mac related. I also updated the blog’s software to Wordpress 2.2, to incorporate the many security updates. Please, comment on the new changes as you please and critique them to your wishes, I might make the changes if they are reasonable.
