Rant: Air Alert

So, I was doing some Youtube video searching today, and I came across something interesting. When I mean interesting, I mean the most ludicrous thing I’ve heard in a long time. So, lets begin this 1/28/08 rant: Air Alert

After watching the Georgia Tech vs. Virginia basketball game, I decided to look up some pretty sweet dunks, or so I thought. Two words kept occurring over and over again *big suprise there, its Youtube after all*: Air Alert. This apparent program can increase your vertical jump over 12 inches, bla bla bla. In other words, all those wannabe 14 year olds who will pretty much stay 5′11 all their lives can now dunk or something. Besides the fact that in most of the videos the rim was at 9′5, not 10, or the fact that they were using 28.5 inch balls so they could palm them; concentrate on the fact that instead of playing in an actual league, or practicing every day against other people to earn them real skill (shooting + dribbling, etc) they have to do a workout video for the glory to dunk. Pathetic if you ask me….

In other words, if you can dunk, great. If you can drive the ball against two 6′ post players and make them look like retards trying to guard you, that’s even better.

New Project: MacScape

Believe it or not, I have been working on an app over the few months. It’s a native Runescape client based off WebKit, with some handy features as well. Note: This app is no Metis, but a simple, ad free environment to play the online game. It’s also fair to note that I don’t actually play Runescape myself, can’t stand the game myself. Just seemed like a good idea.

Features include:

  • Ad free
  • World Map
  • Fast java load time *thanks to Webkit, w00t w00t*
  • Etc….

What I need help with:

  • I need to know how to dictate when the webview loads based on when the window becomes active
  • Some advanced java features within webkit would be nice
  • Possible Runescape converters/forumlas would also be nice for future use

Drop an email if you can help!

Update 1/17/08 - 1/24/08

It’s been a while! To make a long, terrible, complicated, and sad story come to a close sooner, I’ll sum it up like this:

This site shouldn’t be online right now.

That’s right, I tried to kill it over the Christmas Holidays. Sadly, however, I didn’t disable the auto repay option, so, when I thought I had deleted it, I come up with an email saying it was going to cost me another 109 dollars. I was thrilled. Well, anyway, here we are and I’ll sum of what I plan to do and what has already happened:

  • I changed the name and theme to shake off that Mac Fanboy Look. The blog will now be about whatever the hell I want it to be, mainly Python programming and stuff I find elsewhere. NOW RENAMED TO “It’s a Conspiracy, I swear”
  • The theme is totally, ghetto fresh. Yes, you know you like it.
  • All the broken links that absolutely PLAGUED the site is in the process of getting fixed. Yes, very soon all the links will work again. ALL FIXED! =D
  • I got rid of the spam ridden forum that I was using. It was pointless anyway, as of now no one uses my software anyway…If anyone actually does need help, use email.
  • I’m still looking for a decent header image for the blog, if you have any, please don’t hesitate to email it to me! Found one, looks good too!

Let’s hope this year brings a little more good activity to the site.
