Ok, that’s a tad dramatic, but it may as well be true.
I’ll put it simply: School has gotten in the way of any development on FinkCommander, so much so that I have no idea where I left off or how I got there (note to self: finish a class before moving onto the next one ¬_¬). The second issue is that I will need to concentrate the rest of my efforts on getting a job. Why? Long story short: I owe payment on a loan. It’s hard to do when you’re unemployed.
I’m sure you’ve heard of this with several other OSS projects before, and I apologize if anyone is disappointed. But it all boils down to this: life gets in the way sometimes.

I believe it’s time for another update to Caffeinated Macs. Let’s just say we’ll be moving to a new forum system, one much more suited to the needs of the blog and my MySQL database. It’s twice as compatible with the blog as Vanilla is currently, and it’ll have a spiffy theme. Trust me
::EDIT::
Sorry for the long delay on this new forum I was planning all. I need some help making some changes to the current Caffeinated Macs theme, which is based off Fresh. On a certain page, I need to remove the sidebar and expand the content to fit the screen. The problem is, I have no idea where to even start. I’ve tried a few basic changes, but they all effect all content, not just a dedicated page. If a person could contact me with some help, that would be great.

If anyone doesn’t know already, today, April 22, is Earth Day. Earth Day was originally the idea of Senator Gaylord Nelson. He created the idea after realizing the damage being done to the Earth with all those nice chemicals like PCBs, etc. The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970 and was actually a protest the United State’s environmental agenda.
Google also seems to be joining the celebration by changing their logo on their homepage.

Smultron, the free alternative and heavily featured Text Editor for Mac OS X, has released a new version. Some updates include:

* Handling of projects is much improved
* Running of commands is much improved
* Updated apperance
* New icons
* Reduced memory usage
* Improved and faster syntax colouring
* Improved printing speed
* Added vertical split (hold option)
* Added FreeFem++ syntax definition
* Bug fixes galore
::EDIT:: 3.0.1 HAS BEEN RELEASED THAT FIXES MOST OF THESE CRASHES
However, as nice as this update is, it’s littered with bugs and crashes. It will crash on launch if your on an Intel Mac, auto-complete brackets lead to a crash, the icons, are HORRIBLE! *come on Peter, if your gonna program on Mac OS X, beautiful interfaces are essential, but everything else about the UI is fine*, In my opinion the resizable images in the left split view is unnecessary, and the grouping of preferences are a little strange. Not a very nice way to start out a 3.0 release!
But, let’s not rant on how bad the release is, and let’s look at what’s great about 3.0. The bug fixes are extensive, and overall speed and response are twice as good as they were. The syntax coloring is much more responsive, and the programming language syntax list is probably the best on the block. The UI changes in the split view look MUCH better with the nice blue background, the command prompt is as useful as ever, and finally, the project maintainer is fine! Knowing Peter Borg, all these crashes and bugs will be squashed in 3.1. Just be patient users!
