South Park

In my opinion, South Park is the best show on television. How else will we be able to laugh at ourselves or religions or other groups of people? What made me think of this is the episode I saw tonight. Mostly, I wish to quote Episode 907 about the PSP.

[Satan watches on his TV, which is much nicer than the one in his bedroom. The hooded figure stands nearby]
Satan: What mockery is this?!
Hooded Figure: My Lord…
Satan: The feeding tube has been pulled! If the child dies and his soul returns to heaven, God will have his Keanu Reeves!
Hooded Figure: Perhaps the child won’t die in time.
Satan: Forget it! I’m calling the attack off!
Hooded Figure: No! Keep your army marching, my Lord. I will get that feeding tube put back in.
[Satan turns and walks off]
Satan: How?
Hooded Figure: I will do what we always do: Use the Republicans.”

This sums up my beliefs.

TextMate blogging feature

This is a test post from TextMate’s blogging feature. It’s cool that I can do this from my most used application other than Camino. It supports most of the major features that other blogging apps have like ecto, just more text based. As I recall, a series of Ruby scripts enable this, another perfect example on how a Ruby - Cocoa bridge would be great. Have fun with TextMate.

Songbird 0.2.1

Songbird is a newly created media player for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux based of the Mozilla core. This is a really cool piece of software for those who don’t like iTunes *I can’t stand the built in store, I don’t use it*. Here’s a list of some features:

* Plays just about any file
* Skinable just like Firefox
* Keyboard Shortcuts
* Music Library feature + Organization
* Web music player built in
* Smart mix capabilities
* Scanning a specific folder for added music *wow!*
* Integrated web search
* Plugin support

And that’s not even all of it. This is a great music player! *praise the Mozilla API*

Shiira 2.0 THE Mac browser?

There are many web browsers out there for the Mac, WebKit’s Safari, Shiira, and DeskBrowse, Mozilla’s Camino, Firefox, Flock, and then Opera. All these are special in their own ways, but the overall majority of Mac users use Safari, Firefox, and Camino. Shiira has never been taken very seriously, which is a shame because I think it is one of the best damn browsers on the Mac. With 2.0, the Shiira team plan to work some magic on the aging browser. Basiclly, a UI over-hull along with some new features. With these features released in a stable version, I will definitely be trying it. Right now Shiira is an incomplete beta stage, but it already looks great and cool features. With these changes, I really think it stands a chance to render all the other browsers obsolete, even Safari! *that’s right, I said it* Here’s why.

In a browser, I look for a list of traits. One is core capabilities. It HAS to be able to render pages well and fast, along with some basic features like Bookmarks, RSS support, and a search bar in the toolbar. I also look for features that make a browser special. If you notice, Shiira 2.0 promises almost all these features. It has built in RSS support, a great core *WebKit ftw!!!!*, promising interface, and it’s own special traits. In 2.0, this special trait is the Page Dock and Shelf. The shelf is suppose to act as a one stop fits all place, where RSS, bookmarks, Bonjour, and AddressBook meet together in one window. Now that’s pretty special.

Another thing I look for is interface. Things have to be pretty, just like any Mac OS X applications. This is where Shiira 2.0 will excel. Below you see why. *Click the images to make bigger.*

As you can see, I think Shiira has something really going for it. Maybe it will finally be able to say that the user base is bigger than Safari’s. What do you use use and why? Post a comment!
